The deceased was a native of Scotland, but came to this country twenty-two years ago and settled in Norfolk, where he had since resided. During all this time was a trusted employe of his brother-in-law, D. Carpenter, the well-known furniture dealer. He was a man of sterling integrity and uprightness of character, and his many friends in this city and section will learn with sorrow of his passing away. He was a member of Lafayette lodge and Jerusalem encampment of Odd Fellows and was also a communicant of the Second Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a widow and an only daughter, Mrs. J.W. Miller, of Norfolk. The funeral will take place from his late residence at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon and will be conducted by his pastor, Rev. Dr. J.E. Thacker.
