Daisy was born and spent her early childhood in Vienna, Austria. She was later raised in California, lived in New Orleans during her marriage to the late Albert D'Ossche and then resided in Washington D.C., where she worked for Prentice-Hall publishing. Daisy moved to Norfolk following her marriage to the late William P. Dickson Jr., former senior partner of the law firm of Wilcox and Savage, P.C. Daisy’s mother, the late Greta Kempton, was a renowned artist, known especially for her portraits, including the official White House portrait of former President Harry S. Truman. Daisy was also an accomplished painter and was an active supporter of the area’s cultural and civic organizations. She was a former member of the boards of directors of the Virginia Zoological Society and the Virginia Opera, a founding member and past president of the Friends of the Jean Outland Chrysler Library of the Chrysler Museum, past president and member of the Norfolk Society of the Arts and an active member of the Lawrence T. Royster Circle of the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. She was a devoted supporter of the Chrysler Museum, where she established the Albert Kempton D'Ossche Video Library in memory of her late son, Albert K. D'Ossche. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Norfolk. She is survived by her late husband’s daughters, Kate Dickson Snyder and Mary Petty Dickson, and their families; her sister-in-law, Anne D. Jordan of Virginia Beach and her sister-in-law’s children, Anne Talbott Jordan, Margaret Jordan Harvey and Charles Goodwin Jordan. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Norfolk, at 10 a.m. on Monday, followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery. H.D. Oliver is handling arrangements.
