DiDomenico Sr., 76, of 142 Lafayette Ave., departed this life on Tuesday, May 29, 2001, after a lengthy illness. Mr. "D" was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph and Josephine DiDomenico, who predeceased him. He had resided in Norfolk for close to 60 years. Pete received his B.S. in pharmacy from St. John's University/Jamaica, Long Island, N.Y., and was proud to serve the Ocean View community for over 50 years as a pharmacist, making sure all of his "patient's" medicine needs were taken care of in a loving, caring manner. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Pete was also a charter member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3548. He was one of the original organizers of the first Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Ocean View. Pete is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Shirley Fantone DiDomenico; eight children, Peter Jr. and his wife, Beth, Joseph and his wife Karen, both of Florida, Donald and his wife, Becky, of Virginia Beach, Shirley Anne, Lynn, Michael, Alan and Dorothy, all of Norfolk. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Kim, Peter III, Joey, Terri, Justin, Jamie, Kevin, Kristen, Kelli, Erin, Billy, Max, Nicole, Sumner, Laura, Charlie, Casey and Kaitlin; three great- grandchildren, Derek, Emma and Preston. A special grandchild, Stacie, predeceased her Granddaddy. Besides his immediate family, Pete is also survived by his two brothers and a sister, Joseph DiDomenico and wife Mary, Francis DiDomenico and wife Betty, Marion Mandra and husband Ray; a brother-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Joseph Fantone and wife Marilyn, Dolly Parker and husband Walter, Nancy Owen, Patricia Zito and husband Chuck, Ida Roberson and husband Henry; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pete is survived by his many friends and associates in the Ocean View area, whom he considered his extended family. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ocean View. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
