Norfolk Landmark February 3, 1891
At about one o’clock Sunday morning, Mrs. Jane Diggs departed this life at the 
home of her son-in-law, Mr. W. J. E. Bishop, Marshall and Highland avenues, aged 
67 years, death ensuing from heart trouble. The deceased was a most estimable lady 
and a member of the Granby street M. E. Church. She leaves two daughters. The 
funeral took place at 3 p.m. yesterday from the residence, was largely attended 
and there was a handsome display of flowers. Rev. William E. Evans, her pastor, 
conducted the ceremony, being assisted by Rev. W. H. Edwards, of McKendree M. E. 
Church, and the interment was made in Elmwood. The following were the pallbearers: 
Messrs. J. R. Briggs, T. C. Gale, W. J. Butt, B. F. Harrison, Frank Pierce and R. 
James.
