The Norfolk Landmark Sunday April 19, 1891

DIGGS - At the residence of her husband, in 38 Pine Street, Berkley, in the 62d 
year of her age, at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Mrs. MARY H. DIGGS. 
Funeral will take place THIS (Sunday) AFTERNOON at 3 o'clock from Chestnut 
Street M.E. Church. Please omit flowers.

Mrs. Diggs, the estimable wife of our townsman, Mr. Isaac Diggs, died Friday 
night at 12 o'clock. For several days this lady calmly awaited the summons with 
a composure typical of her beautiful life, which was richly adorned by Christian 
virtues. She was possessed of Christian and womanly traits which endeared her to 
all who enjoyed the pleasure of her acquaintance and ever displayed towards her 
loved ones a mother's affection, a wife's devotion. Her faith in God she 
maintained faithfully to the end. Always prompt in the discharge of her secular, 
but more especially her religious duties, her death will be sadly felt. Her 
funeral will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Methodist Church, 
of which she was a devoted member.
