Dix of St. Louis, Missouri, died yesterday evening at 629 York Street. He was 42 years of age and his health had been failing for about eighteen months. He came to Norfolk in April with his mother and sister, hoping that this climate would restore his former strength, but he grew steadily worse and died suddenly at 6:15 o'clock yesterday evening. His mother and two of his sisters, Miss Lillian Dix, and Mrs. Fanning of Cleveland, Ohio, were by his side when the end came. Mr. Dix was born in New Orleans, the youngest son of Thomas J. Dix, and spent most of his life in St. Louis, where he was a well known church organist and choirmaster. He leaves a widowed mother, Mrs. Clare A. Dix and three brothers and two sisters: Messrs. Clarence Dix of Washington, DC, and Herbert and George Dix of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. M. A. Fanning of Cleveland, and Miss Lillian Dix.
