A native of Norfolk, she was the wife of Joseph Dixon Sr. and a daughter of the late Isaac and Mrs. Verretta Johnson McCoy. She was a member of the Deaconess Board, Senior Choir, and Missionary Society of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a treasurer of Everready Neighborhood Club, a past matron of Adeline Ward Eastern Star Chapter 197, and a past president of Past Patrons and Past Patrons Circle. She was a member of Herrons Jericho Cohession Court 3 and advisor to the Grace Russell Youth Department 90. Besides her husband, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Emma Goodrich of New York and Mrs. Irene Calhoun of Norfolk; a son, Joseph Dixon Jr. of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Jones of Norfolk, Mrs. Vernetta Dozier of New York, and Mrs. Mary Stewart of Decatur IL; two brothers, Isaac McCoy Jr. of Norfolk, and Walter McCoy of New York; and 14 grandchildren. A funeral service was held in Mt. Olive Baptist Church by the Rev. H. T. Myers. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge.
