Requiem mass for the repose of the soul of the dead was celebrated by Rev. Father T. J. Wilson. During the service Rev. Father John Doherty, of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, occupied a seat in the sanctuary. While the remains were being borne from the church, "Lead, Kindly Light,” was softly and tenderly sung by Miss Lizzie Taylor. The casket was literally covered with the choicest flowers and was handled by eight colored men. The interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Following were the honorary pall-hearers: Messrs. C. F. Smith, James W. McCarrick. R. Devereux Doyle, Peter Smith, John J. Samuels, Edward Barny, Allan G. Burrow and Walter Sharp.
