Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father R. A. Drake, pastor of the church. Rev. Father John Doherty, of St. Mary’s church, Norfolk, Rev. E. J. Houlihan, of St. Joseph’s church, Norfolk, Rev. M. J. Haier, of St. Paul's church, Portsmouth, Rev. John Kelliher, of St. Matthew’s, Norfolk, and Rev. A. J. Halbliet, of the Sacred Heart, Norfolk, attended the obsequies. While the cortege was leaving the sanctuary, Mrs. Starke Sutton sang “Face to Face.” The casket was covered with a beautiful floral pall made of smilax, white roses and carnations. The interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: Dr. Southgate Leigh, Captain Robert W. Tomlin, Col. L. W. T. Waller, U.S.M.C, Cosmos F. Smith, Isaac Walke, Chas. Borum, Walter Sharp and Vincent Smith.
