Virginian-Pilot August 26, 1920
The funeral of William Lester Dones, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. White, of Norfolk, 
who was in the United States Army and lost his life overseas, took place yesterday 
afternoon at H. D. Oliver's funeral apartments, Rev. C. S. Blackwell, D.D., 
officiating. A military escort from the army base was in attendance. There were 
many floral offerings. The burial was in Elmwood. The pallbearers were Dr. Thomas 
V. Williamson, J. Mason Hodges, Fairfield H. Hodges, Richard H. Bibb, H. Laurence 
Brooke, Charles McDermott, Jr., Charles J. Calrow and Charles B. Boreland, all 
members of Norfolk Post No. 36, American Legion.
