Virginian-Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark December 27, 1925

Mrs. Johanna Donovan, aged 67, widow of Thomas H. Donovan, died Friday afternoon 
at 5 o'clock at her residence, 907 Virginia Street. She was a native of Ireland 
and had been a resident of Norfolk for the last 45 years. She is survived by two 
daughters, Mrs. J.P. Gillerlain, of Portsmouth and Mrs. G.T. Crump, of Norfolk; 
one son, W.F. Donovan, of Norfolk and 20 grandchildren. Funeral services will be 
held at St. Mary's Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will 
be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. Johanna Donovan — Funeral services for Mrs. Donovan were held yesterday 
morning at 10 o’clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rev. E. P. Gallagher 
officiating. Rev. E. A. Brosnan, Rev. M. Hartigan, Rev. A. J. Taylor, Rev. R. B. 
Kealey and Rev. P. P. Brennan were present. During the service, Mrs. James 
Hughes sang, “Lead Kindly Light," with E. J. Doran, as accompanist. The casket 
was covered with clusters of narcissi, while among the many floral offerings was 
a large cluster of narcissi from the employees of Norfolk and Western Pier "S" 
and one from the B. P. O. Elks. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. The 
pallbearers were: Patrick Tynan, W. J. Cannon, T. B. Hatton, William J. Walsh, 
A. L. Voight, George Dorr, Charles H. Tumbleson and B. J. King.
