A. DORAN, N&W AGENT, DIES AT 56 Prescott A. (Paddy) Doran, 56, of 535 W. Ocean View Ave., district freight agent for Norfolk & Western Railway, died Tuesday at 3 a.m. in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington. He went to the hospital Monday for consultation with physicians about a heart condition. He was accompanied by his brother, Joseph S. Doran of Norfolk, his only survivor. A native of Norfolk, his late parents were Charles M.C. Doran and Mrs. Lula Doran. He was unmarried. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was widely known for his work in the Boys Club and other civic and business groups. He was affectionately known as Paddy and promoted physical fitness and sportsmanship among youth. His business career began with the Virginian Railway Aug. 1, 1921, as a stenographer-clerk in the engineering department. He later became district freight agent. When the Virginian was merged with the Norfolk & Western Dec. 1, 1959, he retained this position. He was a member of Norfolk-Portsmouth Traffic Club, Propeller Club, National Defense Transportation Association and Norfolk Chamber of Commerce. The body will be brought to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. **************************************************************************** NORFOLK — A funeral service for Prescott A. (Paddy) Doran, who died Tuesday, was held in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Friday by the Rev. M. Peter Manzo. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cannon and the Rev. John J. Bannon were present in the Sanctuary. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. John Prominski, Kenneth Baker, Frank Margiotta, Richard S. Fentress, E. H. Mitchell, J. B. Griswold, T. E. McAndrews and Joseph Etheridge. Active pallbearers were W. J. Story Jr., V. R. Stell, Lloyd Pierce, H. C. Johnson, B. W. Pace, Melvin R. Tarrall, John G. Robinson, L. T. Hathaway and Algy Cohen.
