Norfolk Virginian Pilot September 21, 1943

George Washington Dorr, aged 65, husband of Mrs. Katherine A. Dorr, a native of 
Washington, D.C., and a resident of Norfolk for the past 50 years, died 
yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at a local hospital. Besides his wife, Mrs. 
Katherine A. Dorr, of Norfolk, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James T. 
Langford, of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Miss Katherine A. Dorr, of Norfolk; two sons, 
George W. Dorr, Jr., of Norfolk and Francis X. Dorr, U. S. Army; a grandson, 
J.T. Langford, Jr.; three sisters, Mrs. George Brunjes, of Maplewood, N.J.; Mrs. 
Christopher Seng and Mrs. Joseph Truex, of New York and a brother, Frank Dorr, 
of New York. The body was removed to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 
Colonial Avenue, pending arrangements.

George Washington Dorr — Funeral services for Mr. Dorr, who died Monday at a 
local hospital, were held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic 
Church, with the Rev. E. C. Kiefer officiating. The Rev. P. C. Blackburn was 
present in the sanctuary. Several selections were rendered during the service by 
the choir of St. Mary’s Academy, with Mrs. Joseph Lex as organist. Burial was in 
St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Francis Biser, Michael Walsh, Henry 
Garris, John Larkin, Lee F. Lawler and John E. Milan.
