Norfolk - William Douglas of 824 C Ave. died Friday in a hospital after a long
illness.

A native of Bertie County, NC, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Susie Douglas
and a son of the late Jimmy and Mrs. Caroline Douglas.

He worked for C. E. Thurston & Sons and retired as a freight handler.

Surviving are seven sons, James Douglas, Samuel Douglas, Robert Douglas,
Rayfield Douglas, and Murphy Douglas of Norfolk, Walter Douglas of New York, and
William Douglas Jr. of Cleveland; seven daughters, Mrs. Mildred Presley, Mrs.
Ruby Bembry, Mrs. Carrie Horne, and Mrs. Amelia Pryor of Cleveland., Mrs. Willie
M. Hurtt of New London, CT, Mrs. Sandra Purnell of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Pearl
Jeannette of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Rachel Banks of Edenton NC; 35
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in C. H. Mason Memorial
Church of God in Christ by Elder David L. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge.
