Norfolk Virginian Pilot March 22, 1955
Mrs. Lucy A. Douglas, 86, of 7548 Yorktown Drive, died at her home yesterday at 
5:30 p.m. after an illness of two years.
A native of Windsor, N.C., she was the daughter of William E. and Mary Eliza 
Jordan Newby and the widow of James J. Douglas, Sr.  She had resided in this 
section for the last 67 years.
Surviving are three sons, William E. Douglas, of South Norfolk, James J. 
Douglas, Jr., of Norfolk and Alson S. Douglas, of Princess Anne County; two 
daughters, Mrs. Louise Hampshire, of Norfolk and Mrs. Mary E. Williams, of 
Lawrence, Mass.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church and the Three Score and 
Ten Club.
The body was taken to the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, where services will be 
conducted at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
