Norfolk Virginian Pilot Friday June 27, 1952
Mrs. Maria Bain Dowding, 71, widow of the Rev. Henry W. Dowding and daughter 
of Frank Irvine and Mrs. Louise Elliott Bain, died yesterday at 1:20 a.m. at a 
Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Dowding was lifelong resident of Norfolk, last residing at 433 West 34th 
Street.
Surviving are two aunts, Mrs. Olive Womble and Mrs. W.R. Boutwell, of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments 
tomorrow at 1 p.m. by the Rev. William Curtis White, rector of the Episcopal 
Church of the Ascension, of which Mrs. Dowding was a member.  Burial will be 
private in Elmwood Cemetery
