Norfolk Virginian December 1 1894

Mr. William S. Dowdy died yesterday at 1:30 o'clock at his residence, No. 25 
Colley Avenue, aged 58 years, after being confined to his bed four weeks. A. 
great sufferer he was. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn their loss. He 
is a member of Asbury. The funeral will be mentioned later.

The funeral of Mr. W.S. Dowdy took place from his late residence, on Colley 
Avenue, at 2 p.m. Sunday. It was conducted by Rev. J.T. Routten. Interment was 
in Elmwood Cemetery.
