Virginian-Pilot March 25, 1921
PRESENT PULPIT IN MEMORY OF WAR HERO
A handsome marble pulpit will be presented to Knox Presbyterian Church at 11 
o'clock Sunday morning by Lieutenant and Mrs. Samuel Dowdy, as a memorial to their 
son, Samuel Godfrey Dowdy, who was lost on the U.S.S. Cyclops during the World 
War. The address of presentation will be made by City Attorney R. W. Peatross, and 
the pulpit will be accepted by Rev. Dr. W. H. T. Squires, pastor, on behalf of the 
church.
