This promotion was given as a free gift based on her public profession of faith and her decision to follow Believer's Baptism. She temporarily leaves her five grown children, Elinor Keys, Bobby, Barbara Baker, Russell and David; their spouses; her grandchildren; her great- grandchildren; her sisters and brother; and her church family at Elizabeth River Baptist Church. She will be joining all those she has dearly missed, including her husband, Owen, who referred to her as his "Dearest, Darling, Sweetheart Katie." She has completed the work she was given to do while she was on Earth. She loved her family in a very unique way. She was a lady of talents, excellent with her hands, and had a keen eye for caring for the needs of her household. She was a high-spirited child, a big sister who helped her family, a wife that her husband adored, and a mother who wanted her children to have the very best. She served all of these roles as long as she was able. You may join her family and friends to exchange comfort and encouragement on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Road Chapel. Her promotion service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elizabeth River Baptist Church, and the service will be concluded at Riverside Memorial Park. She would appreciate your love and support to her family and friends during this temporary separation, but mostly she would want you to know there are ample promotions like hers available, after this life, to ''Whosoever will may come . . .''
