Norfolk Virginian October 15, 1896

Mr. Jesse Dowe, a native of Roanoke Island, N.C., but for some years a resident 
of Norfolk, died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Thomas T. Howlett, in 
the sixty-third year of his age. He leaves two married daughters, Mrs. Howlett, 
of 315 East Highland Avenue and Mrs. Lane of South Mozart Avenue. 
The funeral will take place from the residence, 315 East Highland Avenue today 
at 11 a.m., Rev. J.J. Hall, D.D., officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood

Rev. J.J. Hall, D.D., preached the funeral of Mr. Jesse Dowe at the residence of 
his son-in-law, Mr. T.T. Howlett, East Highland Avenue, yesterday at 11 a.m. 
Messrs. C. Lewis, A.L. Fagan, James Holmes and Benjamin Brabble were 
pallbearers. Interment was in Elmwood.
