RICHMOND — William Thomas Downey of 1000 Melrose Ave., a retired Air Force Lt. 
Col., died Thursday in a hospital.
A native of Washington, D.C., he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. 
He was a V.M.I. graduate and was a charter member of the V.M.I. Hall of Fame.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Anne Downey Brockenbaugh and Miss Beth 
Downey, and four grandchildren, all of Norfolk.
A funeral will be held Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. Woody Funeral Home, 
Sutherland-Brown Chapel, Richmond has charge. Memorial donations may be made to 
the V.M.I. Educational Fund.
