Walter Dowtin Sr., 55, Chauffeur, Dies Here

NORFOLK - Walter Dowtin Sr., 55 of 2426 Macey St., died Monday at 9 p.m. in a 
Norfolk hospital after a short illness.
He was a son of Daniel and Mrs. Agnes Dowtin and a native of Warrenton, N.C. He 
had resided in Norfolk for the last 25 years. He was a private chauffeur and 
butler for 25 years, and a member of Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Dowtin and one son, Walter Dowtin Jr. 
both of Norfolk.
The body was taken to Morning Glory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 
at the Wesley Union A.M.E. Zion Church today at 1 p.m. by the Rev. J.J. Moore, 
pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
