She was a native of Norfolk, and the youngest of a large and influential family. She was a devout Catholic, being a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Her father, Capt. John E. Doyle, was a nephew of Walter Herron, whose home in former days was the site of the present hospital - "St. Vincent de Paul". On her mother's side, she was the grand-daughter of the late Edward Fitzgerald, U. S. A. The surviving members of her family are her two sisters - Misses Emily and Maria Doyle, and her nieces and nephews, Mrs. John M. Brockenborough, of Richmond; Misses Emily and Eleanor Kenny, of Baltimore, children of the late Clara Doyle Kenny: Miss Bessie A. Doyle, Messrs. Edward Fitzgerald, Walter Herron and John Edward Doyle, of Norfolk, children of the late Walter Herron Doyle, who was president and founder of the Citizen's Bank of Norfolk.
