Mr. Dozier had retired from Norfolk Southern Railway and Western Union as a telegraph operator after 55 years. He learned Morse code and telegraphy as a boy and began working for Norfolk Southern at a small station known as Virginia Beach when he was 15. He continued there for 13 years. In 1905 he joined Western Union's Norfolk office and stayed there until his retirement in 1956. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Pungo. Survivors include six grandchildren. The graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery by Dr. Paul B. Watlington Jr. Cox Funeral Home is in charge. The family will be at 3313 Right Mier Place.
