Norfolk Landmark September 24, 1889
                Funeral of Mr. John E. Dozier.
The funeral of this popular gentleman, whose death occurred Saturday, took place 
from his late residence, No. 176 Fenchurch street, Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, 
his friends and acquaintances being present in large numbers. The services at the 
house and grave were conducted by the Rev. J. L. Burrows, D.D., pastor of the 
Freemason Street Baptist Church. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, and the 
following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Messrs. L. H. Whitehurst, E J. 
Whitehurst, E. Dean, C. E. Jenkins, R. H. Gwathmey and W. J. Simmons.
