Ms. Lula was a warm and loving person and all who knew her loved her. She loved her family and her church family and was the epitome of God's love. She was born Feb. 13, 1907 in Norfolk, to the late Samuel and Mary Jane Johnson and was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Kornegay and a very dear cousin, Joseph McConnell. She was reared in a Christian home and at an early age confessed to Christ and joined Macedonia Congregational Christian Church. After several years she later moved her membership to Shiloh Baptist Church and then to Union United Church of Christ until her health began to fail. Ms. Lula was married to the late Howard Dozier. Although she had no children of her own, she is survived by a foster daughter, Patricia McPherson of Chesapeake; a cousin-in-law, Bettie McConnell; and a host of relatives and friends. She was employed at the White Way Laundry as a presser until she retired on disability. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Union United Church of Christ by Pastor Linda Clark with burial in Calvary Cemetery . Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
