                    John S. Drew Dies; Retired Bookkeeper

John Sheppard Drew of 616 Graydon Pk., retired bookkeeper associated with the 
National Bank of Commerce for 43 years, died Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in a Norfolk 
hospital.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Evans Drew and 
son of the late Capt. John H. and Mrs. Martha Stores Drew.
Besides his wife, surviving are one son, John D. Drew; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie 
D. Bullock and Mrs. Ida Mae Hoggard and one brother, Clarence Drew, all of 
Norfolk.
The body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.

NORFOLK — Funeral services for John Sheppard Drew, who died Wednesday at a 
Norfolk hospital, were conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Saturday at 10 
a.m. by the Rev. Thomas J. Walsh, pastor. The Rev. John Dunne was present in the 
sanctuary. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were John S. 
Alfriend, Baxter C. Carr, Dr. M. S. Fitchett, Dr. Claiborne Fitchett, Morris H. 
Bell, Arthur C. Hanna, W. S. Jarvis, A. W. Brock, Eugene D. Denby, Thomas P. 
Bowe and Charles Elmer Rudolphi. Active pallbearers were Frank J. Hatton, James 
Mernard Fitzpatrick, Charles G. Brown, Charles E. Satchell, Fred J. Schmoele Sr. 
and Edward. F. Lawler.
