Norfolk Virginian July 21, 1882

Sudden Death - We are pained to announce the sudden demise of Willie Drewrey, 
which occurred at 4:30 p.m. yesterday. He died by his own hand. It is indeed sad 
that one so young should grow weary of life; and what causes led up to this rash 
act we know not. To those who knew best, Willie was indeed a noble fellow -- 
generous, sincere and trustworthy. Perhaps the death of no one in the village 
would cast a deeper shadow of gloom than hangs over Berkley today. He had 
scarcely reached the summit of manhood's years, being only about thirty years of 
age, when he deliberately laid down all the burdens of existence for the dread 
hereafter. To his afflicted mother (ah! what devotion lies in that little word) 
we tender our sincere condolence, for we knew him well and valued him. May 
Christ receive him.

Funeral of Mr. Drewrey - The remains of this gentlemen were quietly laid to rest 
in our village cemetery yesterday afternoon. The funeral was largely attended by 
his numerous friends. May he rest sweetly.
