Miss Jennie Drewry, Struck By Automobile, Dies Instantly

New York, April 7 — Miss Jennie Drewry, sixty years old, of Norfolk. Va., was 
instantly killed Saturday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock, when an automobile driven by 
Israel Levenson, of No. 269 Troy avenue, Brooklyn, struck her as she was crossing 
Fifth avenue at Twelfth street. The auto is owned by the United Auto Renting 
company, of No. 727 Broadway, Brooklyn. Levenson was placed under arrest on a 
technical charge of homicide.
Miss Drewry's body lay unidentified at the New York hospital until late last night 
when Mrs. Carrington Cabell, of No. 251 West Fifty-seventh street, asked Detective 
Sergeant Bevy of the missing persons bureau for information concerning the 
Virginia woman.
For the past eight years she had spent her winters in New York with Mrs. Cabell 
and, last night when she did not appear for dinner, Mrs. Cabell became alarmed.
Miss Drewry was a daughter of the late Horace Drewry and was widely known in 
Norfolk. She was accustomed to spend her summers here with her niece, Mrs. Henry 
T. Baker, 520 Boissevain avenue, and her winters with friends in New York. She has 
been in New York since last summer. Miss Drewry is survived by two sisters, Mrs. 
J. M. Ward and Mrs. V. D. Wilson, of Norfolk, and a niece, Mrs. Henry T. Baker, 
wife of Lieutenant Commander Henry T. Baker, U.S.N.

The funeral services of Miss Jennie M. Drewry will take place at 11 o'clock this 
morning, Thursday, April 10, in the Sacred Heart church.
