Drews Sr., 59, Of Ship-Towing Firm John Francis Drews Sr., 59, of Whitehurst Road, vice president of McAllister Bros., Inc., ship-towing firm, died Friday at 5:45 a.m. in a hospital. A native of New York, he lived in this area 12 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Myrtle Cleveland Drews and a son of the late Frank and Mrs. Anastasia Drews. He grew up on the waterfront. In 1918 he joined Baker Contracting Co. of Jersey City, N.J., ship-towers. Later he became vice president of the firm. NORFOLK IN '51 In 1951 he came to Norfolk to take charge of company operations in the Hampton Roads area. He spearheaded towing business development farther south. He was a past president of the Propeller Club of Norfolk and a member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Traffic Club, the Hampton Roads Maritime Association, and the National Defense Transportation Association. SURVIVORS He also was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, Norfolk Executives Club, Foreign Commerce Association Club of Norfolk and Consolvo Tent of Circus Saints and Sinners. Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, John Francis Drews Jr. of Chicago and James E. Drews of Virginia Beach; a brother, Edwin A. Drews of Staatsburg, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Sunday at 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held in St. Mathews Catholic Church Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** DREWS, JOHN FRANCIS, Sr. — At a local hospital, Friday, November 8th, 1963, at 5:45 a.m., JOHN FRANCIS DREWS, Sr., husband of Mrs. Myrtle Cleveland Drews, and son of the late Frank and Mrs. Anastasia Drews, in the 60th year of his age. Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Mary's Catholic Church, for funeral services MONDAY MORNING at 11 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery.
