Mr. Drinkwater was born in Norfolk. He was employed with the Norfolk Public Works Department. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3160, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Norview Masonic Lodge 113, A.F. & A.M. and Norview Royal Arch Chapter 62. Survivors include a sister, Carolyn Drinkwater Lemay, a niece, Catherine Burton Ivy, and a nephew, Walter G. Burton III, all of Yorktown. The graveside service with Masonic rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Riverside Cemetery by the Rev. William F. Gregory. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Masonic Home of Virginia, Nine Mile Road, Richmond, Va. 23223.
