Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, November 22, 1996 
Willie Mae Beckett Drummond, 65, of the 2800 block of Colchester Crescent died
Nov. 16, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.

An employee of Norfolk Public Schools for 11 years before retiring 11 years ago,
Mrs. Drummond was a native of Norfolk and a member of Basilica of St. Mary of
the Immaculate Conception, Norfolk, and the Bereavement Committee and Women's
Club. She was a member of the United Order of Tents, Vernice (NU)500, and Courts
of the Calanthe (NU)287. She was also a past senior matron.

She was predeceased by her parents, Julia Johnson Beckett and Ashby Beckett.

Survivors include her daughters, Geneva Diggs, Bernette Brown, Phyllis Gary and
Felicia Drummond; sons, Ashby Beckette, Barry Drummond and Ronald Drummond; two
sisters, Geneva Hill and Olia Hall; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren;
loving nieces, Leola B. Faulks and Shirley Wright; a devoted friend, Ernest
Harrell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon today in the Basilica of St. Mary Catholic
Church by Fr. Walter C. Barrett. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The body
will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. today. The family and friends will
assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. Friday. She was a devoted mother,
grandmother and friend. Hale Funeral Home Chapel is in charge.
