Norfolk Virginian Pilot Saturday August 11, 1945

              Bride, Principal In Cuban Romance, Wed Here, Dies

Mrs. Aracella Duarte, aged 21 years, wife of Jose Duarte, U.S. Army, a native of 
Havana, Cuba, and a resident of 1703 High Street, Portsmouth, died Wednesday at 
10:30 a.m. at the Army Service Force Hospital, Camp Blanding, near Jacksonville, 
Fla. Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents, Roman and Mrs. 
Francisca Perez Rodrigo; two sisters, Miss Carmen Rodrigo and Mrs. Georgia Geipi 
and four brothers, Manuel, Jose, Augustin and Juan Torres Rodrigo, all of Cuba.
Native of Cuba, as is her husband, they were married in Norfolk last November 20 
by the Rev. Taylor Willis, D.D., pastor of Christ and St. Luke's Church, after 
three proxy marriages (recognized in Cuba) in their homeland.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church for services Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery.

Mrs. Araceli Duarte — Funeral services for Mrs. Duarte, wife of Jose Duarte, who 
died Wednesday at Camp Blanding, Fla., were held yesterday morning at 10 o’clock 
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Francis Klemmer officiating. 
Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Maj. Frank Turin, Charles 
U. Freund, Freeman Cook, Frank D. Lawrence, Ernest R. Ball and Charles 
Martindale.
