NORFOLK - Jennie Leola Dudley of 805 Park Ave., a native of Norfolk, died Tuesday in
a hospital.

Ms. Dudley had retired from Norfolk public schools after 40 years as a teacher at
Booker T. Washington High School. She was a graduate of Norfolk Mission College. She
received a bachelor and master of science degrees from Howard University and was
working toward a doctoral degree at Columbia University. She was a member of Bank
Street Memorial Baptist Church and its Gleaners Circle. She was a member of the
National Education Association, Delta Sigma Theta sorority and the Colonial Maids.

Survivors include a foster son, Lawrence Alston of Norfolk, and several cousins.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bank Street Memorial Church by
the Rev. Albert P. Brinson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will
begin at 4 p.m. today in Elton Funeral Home. 

A Delta Sigma Theta sorority wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the
funeral home. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday.
