                 Fall Down Coal Chute Is Fatal to 17-year-Old Boy

William Edward Duffey, 17, died yesterday morning at 4:45 o'clock at a local 
hospital from injuries received Tuesday night when he fell in a coal chute on 
the Norfolk & Western coal pier at Lamberts Point. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. 
James Duffey, of 5316 Powhatan Avenue, and was employed as a clerk with a 
stevedoring company when he fell through the coal chute into the hatch of a 
vessel.
Besides his parents, young Duffey is survived by a sister, Frances E. Duffey, 
director of the Norfolk-Portsmouth Girl Scout Council, and his grandparents of 
Baltimore. He was a native of Norfolk and recently graduated from St. Mary's 
Male Academy. The body will be taken from his parents' residence for funeral 
services Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. 
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

DUFFEY, WILLIAM EDWARD - At a local hospital Thursday, July 16, 1925, at 4:45 
o'clock a.m., WILLIAM EDWARD, son of James D. and Mary Engelhart Duffey, in the 
17th year of his age.
Remains will be taken from the residence of parents, No. 5316 Powhatan Avenue, 
to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for services, SATURDAY MORNING, at 9 
o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment St. Mary's 
Cemetery.

William Edward Duffey — Funeral services for W. E. Duffey, aged 17, who died 
from injuries received Tuesday night at Lamberts Point, will be held this 
morning at 9 o'clock at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. 
Mary’s Cemetery.
