Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Duffey, 83, widow of James Demetrius Duffey and daughter of 
the late Edward and Mrs. Elizabeth Engelhart, died yesterday at 6:45 a.m. at the 
residence of her daughter, at Falls Church.
Mrs. Duffey was a former resident of Norfolk for 53 years, residing on Powhatan 
Avenue, Edgewater. Surviving her are one daughter, Miss Frances Duffey, 
superintendent of public welfare of Fairfax County; a sister, Mrs. Clara Councell, 
and a niece, Dr. Clara Councell, both of Washington.
The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Blessed 
Sacrament Catholic Church for funeral services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be 
in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted at the funeral 
apartments tonight at 8 o’clock.
