Mr. Duffey, retired superintendent of the Lamberts Point coal piers, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O. Elks and of the Holy Name Society, of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Besides his wife, Mrs. Mary Engelhart Duffey, he is survived by one daughter, Miss Frances E. Duffey, of Norfolk; two brothers, Charles Duffey, of Roanoke and William Duffey, of Chicago and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Duffey resided at 5340 Powhatan Avenue. The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for services tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 8 o'clock. ************************************************************************** James Demetrius Duffey — Funeral services for Mr. Duffey, whose death occurred Tuesday, were held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church yesterday morning at 10 o’clock, with the Rev. J. O. Schmidhauser officiating. The Rev. J. F. Govaert, pastor, the Rev. James Albert, and the Rev. T. P. Scannell were present in the sanctuary. In his address at the conclusion of the mass, Father Schmidhauser paid tribute to the Christian life and character of Mr. Duffey, and also read a letter of sympathy from the Rev. Leo J. Ryan, S.T.D., former pastor of the church. During the service, the choir sang, "Veni Jesu,” with Mrs. C. R. Davies as organist. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of Easter lilies, pink roses and fern. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Services at the grave were conducted by the Rev. J. F. Govaert, the Rev. J. O. Schmidhauser and the Rev. T. P. Scannell. The pallbearers were Charles E. Flaherty, Richard P. Smith, M. Daily Walsh, Robert R. Quigley, Joseph B. Ennis, Jr., William J. Cannon, Joseph V. McGlinchy and Robert B. Lawler, all members of Norfolk Council No. 367, Knights of Columbus (fourth degree).
