She was a native of Norfolk. She was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church, its Missionary circle and Hospital Club Order of the Eastern Star, Margaret Frances Chapter 101; Retired Teachers Association; Zeta Phi Beta; and the Norfolk alumni chapter of Virginia State University. Survivors include two daughters, LaVerne J. Barks of Portsmouth and Edith T. Josey of Washington; a brother, Earl T. Pollard of Norfolk; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Queen Street Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Jasper Freeman. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with Hale Funeral Home in charge. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. The family will be at her home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
