Romie Duke, of 1102 Appomattox street, died at 7:55 a.m. July 13 in a Norfolk
hospital following an illness of about two months.

Funeral services were held July 18 at the Church of God in Christ, Liberty
street, Norfolk, with Elder D. D. Dunlap, pastor, officiating.

The deceased was a member of the Masons, and Odd Fellows. He is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Mattie Duke,two sons, Earl and Horace Duke; three daughters, Mesdames
Lorine Kennedy, Marjorie Johnson, and Mary Foxworth; two brothers, two sisters
and seven grandchildren. Interment was in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery
with Chatman's Funeral Home in charge.
