Dunbar, one of the oldest, if not the oldest printer in the state, died yesterday morning at Williamsburg, where he had been taken for treatment about a month ago. He was stricken with paralysis in August, 1900, and never fully recovered from the shock, being confined constantly to his residence since that attack. At the outbreak of the civil war he resigned his commission as gunner in the United States Navy and cast his fortunes with the Confederacy, being assigned to similar duty in the Confederate States Navy. For a few years at the close of the war he conducted a weekly paper at Suffolk, Va. but later came to Norfolk and accepted a position on the Norfolk Virginian and worked on that paper until ill health caused him to retire. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Kate Wightman and one grandchild, Ernest Joynes. He was an honored member of Norfolk Typographical Union No. 32 and represented that body as its delegate at the session of the International Union in Philadelphia. No arrangements have been made for the funeral as yet. *************************************************************** The obsequies of Major David B.
