McGuinness Dunn passed away on Tuesday night. She was born in Derry, Northern Ireland, on November 4, 1934. She lived in a house at the foot of Bishop Street, across from the River Foyle. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending mass at the Long Tower Church. She was a factory worker in Tillie and Henderson's before she met David D. Dunn; an American sailor from Minnesota. They were married on August 2, 1960, in North Carolina, and began their married life in Norfolk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents, Agnes and Anthony McGuinness, and an infant daughter, Maria, in 1961. Mrs. Dunn is survived by her beloved sister, Jean McLaughlin, of Derry, N.I.; her three loving children, Gerard Dunn, and Deborah Dunn-Carr, and husband, Chip, both of Virginia Beach and David Dunn, and wife, Kim Spaulding, of Media, Pa.; five grandchildren, David Dunn, and wife, Stefanie, Jeanette Blackledge, and husband Jason; Anna and Sean Carr and Jake Dunn; one great-grandson, Liam Blackledge, and numerous loving nieces, nephews who live in the town of Derry, N.I. Anna Dunn often said her proudest accomplishment in life was watching her children grow to become successful adults. She always encouraged her family to do their best in everything they did. She loved all things Irish. She enjoyed visiting the local Irish dance competitions, listening to music and watching movies. "Mom you have always overlooked my faults, but never my needs. I love you." Dia is Muire (God and Mary with you.) A funeral mass will be celebrated at The Catholic Church of the Ascension on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Charles Breindel officiating. The burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
