Virginian-Pilot  March 17, 1944
Michael Dyer, 71, former Norfolk Fire Department captain, son of the late Michael 
and Catherine Cannon Dyer, died yesterday at 11:30 a. m., in a local hospital.
A native of Alexandria, he had resided in Norfolk 43 years and lived at 33 D View 
street, Ocean View, at the time of his death. 
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Kate Heatherton, of Washington, D.C.; three 
grandchildren, Mrs. Elwood N. Kelley, Mrs. Lawrence L. Nunn, both of Norfolk,
and Joseph A. Furlong, Jr., U. S. N.; three great-grandchildren, and several 
nieces and nephews.
The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments,
1501 Colonial avenue, to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, of which Mr. 
Dyer was a member, for funeral services tomorrow at 10 a. m.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the H. D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 8 o'clock.
