NORFOLK — Joseph John Eardley, 78, of the 1300 block of Laurel Crescent, a retired 
estimator and planner, died Dec. 16, 1989.
Mr. Eardley, a native of Norfolk, had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, 
Portsmouth, after 32 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. 
He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 367.
Survivors include three sisters, Emeline E. Smith and Virginia T. Eardley, both of 
Norfolk, and Gloria A. Topp of Newport News.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic 
Church by Father Julian B. Goodman. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A 
Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, Norfolk.
