Virginian-Pilot  August 9, 1961

Mrs. Irene Mason Earnest, 49, wife of Frank Marshall Earnest and a daughter of 
Martin and Mrs. Irene Morris Mason, died Tuesday at 3:40 a.m. in a Norfolk 
hospital after brief illness.
Besides her husband, surviving are two sons, Frank M. Earnest Jr. and Richard M. 
Earnest; a daughter, Mrs. H.D. Alexander; and her stepfather, William J. Alford 
Sr., all of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. T.M. Trousdale of Sarasota, Fla. and Mrs. 
George Hill of New York City; a half brother, W.J. Alford Jr. of Hampton; and 
seven grandchildren of Norfolk. 
The Rosary will be recited in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 7:30 
A funeral service will be conducted in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, 
Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

NORFOLK — A funeral service for Mrs. Irene Mason Earnest, wife of Frank Marshall 
Earnest, who died Tuesday, was held in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Thursday by 
the Rev. John O’Connell. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were 
Ernest R. Vaderson, Ernest D. Charon, Thomas Edmond Keil, Thomas Edward Keil, 
Lloyd Fink and Joe Stupka.
