Mrs. Daisy L. Eason died at her 2524 Cottage Toll road residence recently 
after being ill several months.

Funeral services were held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the pastor, the 
Rev. H. T. Myers, officiating, assisted by Bishop D. Lawrence Williams, Rev. 
P. P. Eaton and Dr. J. B. Henderson.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Graves Funeral Home in charge of 
arrangements.

A native of Hertford, NC, Mrs. Eason was the daughter of the late Isaiah and 
Emma Thomas;  two sons, M. Hilton Knox.  She lived many years in Elizabeth 
City, NC and was a resident of Norfolk 20 years.  
(I copied the above paragraph exactly as it was written.  Daisy L. Eason’s 
death certificate lists her father as Isiah Knox, her mother as Emma 
Perkins).
(Above paragraph states two sons but only M. Hilton Knox listed).

Solos were sung by Brown Tyson and Everett Payton.  Miss Emma Ramsey, church 
clerk, read the family paper and condolences.

Mrs. Eason is survived by two daughters, Mrs.Willie L. Gilbert, and Mrs. 
Hattye K. Eason;  and Elisha Overton Eason;  two sisters, Miss Minnie B. 
Know, and Mrs. Eliza Washington;  two grandchildren, six great-
grandchildren, seven nieces, six nephews, who were active pallbearers, and 
other relatives.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Miss Minnie B. 
Knox, William H. Bunch, John Hoffler, Everett Washington, Mesdames Gussie 
Bunch and Henrietta Washington Bray, all of New York City.

Mr. and Mrs. Hoke Eason, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Brothers, Mrs. Rosa Reid, Master 
Henri Eason, Mrs. Nannie Hoffler, all of Hertford NC;  Miss Mabel L. Pailin, 
Alfred Pailin, Patricia Halley, Mesdames Kate Davis, Naresa Williams, Edith 
Spellman, Mayo Williams, Leon Overton, Russell Spellman, James Miller of 
Elizabeth City, NC.

Others were Mrs. Leonora P. Hutton, Baltimore MD;  Miss Olivia L. Martin, 
Lexington MS,  Miss Pearl Prince, Floyd Goodman, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha O. 
Eason, Miss La Salle Lamb,  all of Washington DC;  Mrs. Henrietta Rose, 
Alexandria VA;  Mr. and Mrs. George Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Holman of 
Richmond VA.
