Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, December 14, 2002 
NORFOLK - Robert Lee Eaton, the son of the late Edward and Aline Eaton, was born
in Richmond, Va. on Nov. 29, 1917. He was the oldest and only son of four
children. He died Dec. 7, 2002.

Mr. Eaton attended elementary and two years of high school at Armstrong High in
Richmond. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High in Norfolk in the Class of
1933. His native born talent as a pianist was revealed early in his youth after
only two years of formal training. He became well known for his ability to
interpret and innovate in his piano playing. Throughout his musical career, he
traveled extensively with a jazz group and played locally at many of the
well-known hotels and clubs until his retirement.

He leaves one sister, Addie Eaton Francis of Detroit, Mich.; an aunt, soon to be
102 years of age, Thelma Eaton Daniels of Norfolk; nephews, retired Lt. Col.
Crispin A. Abad and wife Katherine T. Abad of Alexandria, Va., Pedro E. Abad of
Norfolk and Dr. Thomas M. Flake Jr. (spouse of Heidi Simonato Flake); and a
niece, Nancy Flake Johnson (the wife of Philip W. Johnson) all of Detroit. He
was also blessed with many cousins of Richmond and several grandnieces and
-nephews located throughout the country.

A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hale Funeral Home, with
burial in Calvary Cemetery .
