Eberly, 23, Apparently Ended Life Late Thursday; Left Note Miss Alice Earle Eberly, 23, daughter of Ralph H. Eberly, general freight agent for the Seaboard Air Line Railway and Mrs. Roberta Hyslop Eberly, was found dead yesterday at noon in a clump of bushes near the 18th hole of the Lakewood Golf Course at the foot of Shenandoah Street and was reported by the police as having committed suicide by drinking a poison she is believed to have mixed herself. In a note found in her purse, lying close to the body, Miss Eberly asked her parents' forgiveness for the act which she stated was "not due to anything I am shamed of." It also assured the parents that she would die "without pain or suffering," in calling attention to the fact that she had been studying chemistry for some time, leading police to believe she had personally prepared the fatal potion. Miss Eberly was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk and was widely known. She was a member of Larchmont Methodist Episcopal Church. Besides her parents, she is survived by a brother, Ralph Dunbar Eberly. Funeral services will be held at the residence 1001 Larchmont Crescent, tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. Interment will be private in Elmwood Cemetery.
