Norfolk - Mrs. Gloria M. Edmonds of 218 Chestnut street died recently in a 
Charlottesville hospital after a long illness.  A native of Norfolk, she was the 
wife of Charlie Edmonds  and a daughter of the late Arthur and Mrs. Christine 
Simmon.  She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and worked for USO and 
Virginia Commission for Visually Handicapped.

Besides her husband, surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Violett Spears of 
Compton, CA, Miss Carlesta Edmonds and Miss Sharon Edmonds of Norfolk;  three 
sons, Carlton Edmonds and Tony Edmunds of Norfolk and Army Sgt. Charlie L. 
Edmonds of Germany;  three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Cook, Mrs. Mary Dail, and Mrs. 
Dorothy Bagby of Norfolk;  three brothers, James G. Simon of Williamsburg, 
Joseph Simon and Alexander Simon of Norfolk;  and three grandchildren.

A funeral service was held in Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. I. Joseph 
Williams.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Metropolitan Funeral Home in 
charge of the arrangements.
