VIRGINIA BEACH - John Preston Edmondson, 75, of 127 Pinewood Road, the husband 
of Mrs. Mary Dickson Cooke Edmondson, and a native of Radford, died Tuesday in a 
Norfolk hospital.
He lived in this area for 10 years and was retired from E.P Dutton Publishers 
Co. He was on the board of Twentieth Century Fox.
He was a Colonel in the 8th Air Force during World War II. He was an elder of 
First Presbyterian Church.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Richard M. Cherouny of 
Collinsville, Conn., Mrs. Charles J. Currie Jr. of Atlanta, and Mrs. David 
Sargent of Hingham, Mass., three sisters, Mrs. William McElwain of Big Rapids, 
Mich., Mrs. Freeman J. Daniels of Bronxville, N.Y., and Mrs. Reese Goldsmith of 
Radford; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday at noon in First Presbyterian Church, Virginia 
Beach, by Dr. William F. Summers. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, 
with H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, in charge.
The family asks that flowers be omitted, and memorial donations may be made to 
the Eastern Virginia Medical School, c/o Dr. Francis E. Rosato of Norfolk.
