He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a native of Princess Anne County. He formerly was a Civil Service employee at the Naval Base, having retired in 1950 after 30 years service. He was a member of Oceana Lodge 69, A.F. and A.M., Prince Hall affiliation. He also was a member of the Seven Star Lodge 1961 of Odd Fellows, and of the First Baptist Church of Lynnhaven, where he was chairman of the male usher board. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clara J. Edney; three sisters, Mrs Gertrude Brown of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Alice Johnson of Norfolk and Mrs. Jakie Hunter of Princess Anne County. The body was taken to the Morning Glory Funeral Home in Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church, Lynnhaven, Sunday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. C. A. Hayman, pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Nimmo.
